Paul’s Faith
Paul’s Christian faith is very important to him. His faith keeps him grounded. He has seen God work in his life many times over the years, and his goal is to please Him and express God’s Awesomeness to others.
Paul’s Cycling
Paul is an avid bicyclist. He bicycles to and from his morning workouts and to and from work all year long in all weather, including hot, cold, rain, or snow. During the summer he enjoys putting in long rides on most Saturdays. He also enjoys numerous other bicycle related activities.
Paul’s Running
When not on the bike, Paul has taken up running and participating in local running events. His training includes a 12+ mile run on Sunday mornings before church. Paul recently placed 2nd in his age group at the Keybank Sunburst Races finishing a half marathon in 1:38:58.01 with an average mile split time of 7:33.
At the 2022 Indy Half Marathon, Paul was able to accomplish the 13.1 mile run in 1:34:51 with an average of 7:15 per mile. Out of 1098 runners, Paul placed 102 overall and 2nd in his age group.
On June 3, 2023, Paul completed the Sunburst Half Marathon. At 61 years old, the Lord gave him the ability to finish the race, and despite trouble with his hamstring in the final 2 miles, he was able to finish faster than the previous year. Paul finished first in his own age division with a time of 7 minutes and 28 seconds per mile, ran the race faster than anyone in the 55-59 age division, and placed 41st out of 560 total runners.
Paul would also like to congratulate runner Joe Frucci of South Bend. At 66 years old, he finished 16th overall, placing 3rd in the masters class at 6 minutes and 52 seconds per mile. Had he entered his age group rather than humbly entering the masters category, Joe would have placed first in the 65-69 age division. Joe also ran faster than everyone in the 60-64 age division (including Paul), the 55-59 age division, and the 50-54 age division.
Paul prays to God during his runs and God has graciously helped him to complete his runs with no (or minor) pain.
